As technological innovations, as a socioeconomic engine for growth, as artistic practice, and as city-based and national cultural policy, creative media is at the forefront of humanistic and social scientific research in tertiary institutions.
At HKBU, many creativity-based research and teaching endeavours are emerging. This powerful new cluster for creative media and practice R&D provides a platform for a strategic, coordinated synthesis of these various achievements, track records, and emerging interests.
We believe creative media and practice -- as new digital technology, as a socioeconomic engine for growth, as artistic practice, and as city-based and national cultural policy -- should be at the forefront of humanistic and social scientific research in tertiary institutions today and in the future.
In Hong Kong, of the local universities,
only HKBU has all of the following research and teaching domains :
Film and Screen Studies
Translation Theory and Practice
As part of the University’s Strategic Plan 2018-2028,
a new research cluster has been launched at HKBU :
The Creative Media and Practice inter-disciplinary Research Cluster. We aim to recruit around 30 new positions over the next 3-5 years, ranging from post-docs to full professors.
STRATEGIC PRIORITY ON RESEARCH EXCELLENCE
To produce world class research in selected research clusters; and to solve problems with society using close connections between HKBU researchers and external stakeholders.
